Myspace, Bebo and My School

Ok, my school says that they will be viewing the student’s myspaces, bebos etc. They said if they find anything bad they will suspend us or talk with our parents. Do they have the right to make punishments on something out of school like this?

yeah what is worse is im only 13 so what I mainly could get in trouble for is making fun of kids and using inappropriate words and stuff, so it is retarted!

There’s a little rule I think everyone should learn to live by - if you don’t want to make it public knowledge, don’t put it on the internet!

haha I have had many many many discussions with people about this…parents, students and adminiatrators…

Administrators believe that they can look at your myspace or what ever and get you in truble for what ever it is you have on their

I think thats complete crap because what you do in your own personal time, off school grounds, and not at a school sponsered thing…its not their jurisdiction they are no longer responsible for you…your school life and your home life should remain seperate hence privacy rules

I think students need to realize though that your myspace or facebook or what ever is a World Wide Web site! (emphasis on WORLD) what you put on there is out there for anyone to see and if you put pics up there of you gettin drunk and your 18 youre just dumb because youre asking to get introuble…same thing with drugs I know people whos backgrounds are pot leaves and it says on there “I get high all the time” type of stuff and they are suprised when there is a cop at their door asking to search their house…its considerd an admission because its on a website and you clicked “agree” when you made your site that you are aware that it is awebsite and I have people saying “but my profile is private” doesnt matter if a cop has probable cause tom by law has to let them look at your page they have the right to hack into your myspace…they have caught many pedos, kidnappers, drug lords, and missing kids because of myspace So be smart about it and privatize it as much as possible, and with facebook change your settings so that people cant tag you in pics…as much fun as that is I got into major toruble cause there was a pic with me and my friends playing beer pong and im not 21 and they tagged me in it…I got suspended from school and the frat got into trouble for seriving minors (private college so they could do what they want)

So to answer your ?

Thats crap they dont have a right and you should take it over their heads and challenge it because your teacher is not your mother and your pricipal at the end of the day is not your daddy what your parents let you do is their buisness

but everyone take a second to think about whats on your myspace and facebook and what not and think about who all you really want seeing those pictures and reading those blogs…would you want your mother to hear/see it? would you want a cop to? would you want your NCAA Div 1 recruiter to see it and suddenly lose your scholarship?

be careful! its still a website as hackable as any other

Answer #4

Yea…I do think thats a buch of BS but their isn’t much you can do. I doubt you will be suspended for anything on their becuase it is outside of school but they can sure as hell call your parents. Even Employers are checking myspace pages now both pre and post hire. Its a great way to keep tans on people and learn a little about them. Sure it sucks and sems a little dishonest but its 100% legal.
