My rat's cyst popped, what can I do?

A little while ago, my rat had a growth on her side, then a couple of days ago it popped now she has this open womb on her side and it starting to smell. Would peroxide or polysporn harm her in any way if she eats/ licks it? Can I do anything to help it heal or do I have to put her ‘bye bye’? Please Help me.. I need to know Asap!

Cysts run deep into tissue, that’s why the worry of infection. It’s started to smell, that’s a sign of infection…and it will kill her. Take her to the Vet, it won’t cost much to get her an antibiotic.

Rats can survive a burst cyst but a more important concern is infection. Take him to a vet who can give him an antibiotic injection which will help the cyst heal up with minimum risk of infection.

The vet will also tell you how best to keep the wound clean.

I would just put her ‘byebye’ as the rat will be in a lot of pain.
