My Question is about Floods

How is that it floods in the Midwest but not the south,Northwest or the West Cost?

Answer #1

I don’t know why we flood more…I live on the mississippi river and can somewhat remember the flood of 93 but I really remember the flood of 09’…and they weren’t short lived…we always hope to not see them, because they ruin crops..and although none of my family farms…I hate to see all of them lose basically their money…most midwestern towns/citys have tried to build levees tall enough to hold the rivers back

Answer #2

Maybe the midwest is ore prone to flooding, but here in northwest Florida we have flash floods of very short duration (sometimes only hours) that can cause significant damage all summer long. Just in the last month we have had close to two weeks of rain, heavy at times, everyday and have seen several rivers and streams break the flood stage. It is very flat here, so when water gets out of its place there is nothing to stop it.

Natural disaster like flood may strike at anytime and in anywhere so be well prepared for that.
