My friend is having a horrible time

My friend Marissa, she’s a year younger than me, she’s like my little sister.

She’s having a hard time with her life:

-moving to New Jersey, we live in Canada -she’s going to a boarding school so her dad doesn’t put up with her -Her sister is staying in Canada, living with her aunt and uncle -Her mom has cancer and only has 3 months to live

you can tell she isn’t very happy right now, and her friends her age are treating her horrible. they are saying, “your acting like a real b*tch right now”

so I had to have my 2 cents in it and say “how else is she going to act if she’s moving away really far and not going to see us again??? like a happy child? you guys wouldn’t!”

She’s only coming back for one day in the summer, and we are planning to hang out all day until she has to go, cause we didn’t have a proper goodbye saying.

How can we make this situation better for her? and me?

This situation is really hard. And I’m so sorry for you and her. Things like that are never easy.

Try to take her mind off of it. Don’t bring it up unless she does or is willing to talk about anything. There’s nothing more hurtful or annoying then people asking about that kind of sensitive matter.

Try laughing as much as possible. Sometimes it’s the best medicine.
