dogs normal temp is 100.5 to 102.5. A female’s temp will drop about 24hrs away from going into labor, it then may spike, I would be taking it two times a day at the same time each day. Make sure she has a whelping area. She will also start to “nest” this is digging to make a bed.

Answer #3

Is it in celcius or fathrenhite that you measured her temperature.

Answer #4

my pregnant dog’s temp keeps changing why is that? it goes from 100.0 to 98.9 and then goes back up later that day. I am really confused.

Answer #5

I hate to be the bearer of bad news ,but usually this indicates that your dog is gay and may be having homosexual tendencies.

Hello you must not be doing the temp right. Get you a cheap digital thermometer, Vaseline or KY jelly. Clear the thermometer, deep the tip in the vaseline and insert in it in her bottom. wait until the little beeper goes off. When she is normal she will be about 101 to 100 but when she is getting ready to have her pups the temp will drop to 98 or lower. I have seen it go to 91 but 98 to 97 is about right. She will have her puppies within 12 hours or less of the temp going below 98.

The surest sign is she will pant very hard and dig at her blankets or something. She is in labor when she does this.

Start taking your temperatures now and do it about once a day mostly in the evening is best and keep a record.

Good luck
