My dog Rico

Ok I have a jack russell terrier who is about 1 1/2 now, his name is Rico. He’s a good dog but he has some really annoying qualitys. He likes to chew and bite almost anything, last week he chewed through my ethernet cord. He also gets really hyper and crazy whenever my family has company over and he likes to nibble on their hands or shoes sometimes. Whenever he sees like any other animal, like a squirrel or another dog he totally flips out and barks like a maniac and makes these really wierd noises that are extremly annoying. When the male man comes he litterally does donuts around the coffee table and jumps all over the place. I was just wondering if anyone has any good training tips for jack russells or anything that could help lessen or change his behavior.

If you are going to anything I reccommend you watch the dog whisperer on sky 3 at 6.00 pm. he is amazing with dogs.

He can fix any problem you could possibly think of.

His techniques work for everydog, they are simple and easy to catch onto.

Hope this helps.

Lol.My dog is the same way.His name is Scrappy and he is almost 2.He is a chihuahua and dashhound mixed. He barks everytime someone walks in the door.I just think it means helikes attention or he wants attention.Plus about the chewing. What I would do is show him what he did smack his butt then if you have a cage put him in that to show him that he has done something wrong and hopefully he will learn from it.

Ty for the advice, I tried telling my mom that JRT’s are super hyper haha but oh well. I think I will get him in some classes though thanks for the suggestions everyone:)

First of all, he’s a JRT…high energy IN THE EXTREME!! Plus they are a dominant breed…they like to be boss…and it sounds to me, like he is.

I’m with nikkimouse…Obedience classes for him…he’ll learn some social graces for seeing and being around other dogs…and you’ll learn how to be a firm, consistant, and fair leader…which for a JRT, is absolutely necessary or they’ll take over a household.

Exercise him a lot…lots of chasing balls, going for walks…mental stimulation (they are VERY smart, so teaching him tricks will occupy his brain, and is almost as tiring for them as physical exercise)…

My motto…”A tired dog…is a GOOD dog!” :)
