My dad

I haven’t seen my dad since I was 7… and im now 16. I’ve gotten hold of his address. Im planning on writing him a letter but im not sure what to say. He left my mum on bad terms. he said he didnt want to be with my mum and that he didnt love us… but now hes allowing me to contact him… I dont know what to say.. Advice? =]

I feel the same. I last saw my dad when I was 9 or ten. I’m 15 now. I have recently got his number. I’m not sure what to do as we parted on bad terms. To you I would say definately talk to your mum. She may be able to give you some good advice. I hope everything goes well for you. I’m gonna add you if thats ok?

Maybe tell him about yourself, show him who you are and what you have been up to during the years.

“I would listen to what you have to say - you’ve been gone a long time, you’d have to earn your way back into my life with the truth and only the truth - what exactly is your purpose for contacting me and what do you hope comes out of it ?”

Talk to your Mom about this. Make sure that she knows that you are just curious. SHE is the one who stayed around and raised you after he deserted you both.

Do not get ANY hopes up. He left you and your Mom once, and hurt you both, and he will PROBABLY not have changed much. It’s OK to hope he has changed, but don’t expect it.
