ok I have tried the crate training! I bought him a big crate. I dont leave his food and water dishes out for him. I give him food when I eat. so then I know when to take him out. then I put him back in his cage. sometimes he even goes in there! im going to try the change thing though. any more ideas???

Answer #2

Do you leave food out all day and let him eat when he wants or do you feed him at certain times?

They best way to train a dog to go outside is by feeding them several times a day, that way you know right after he eats he is going to need to go to the bathroom, then you can take him out and let him do his business.

Answer #3

try that crait training. dont let him out of the craight except when you take him out to go. it may seem mean but it works well. I did that with my dog and he came out perfectly. you do the craight thing for about 4 days.

good luck

well, if he does something you dont want or goes somewhere you dont want, then I can help u.

going somewhere you dont like=get a empty bottle and put some change in it. shake it a few times and make sure he\she hears it and is scared

peeing or doing something you dont like= through the can or bottle with change in it close to the dog but dont let it hit him, he will be afraid of that thing he is doing but you must do it a few times everytime he does it. he will get these both ideas. hope this all helps!! =)

Pugs are the same way…very tough to house train…the vet had told me to get a crate no bigger than what they can just stand and turn around in..she said I know it seems mean, but the only way to train them effectively. Only have them out when you play with them and hold them ect…and out to potty…they will seem like they are spending most of the time in the crate, but they know they get out when they go outside to potty. Good luck!

The crate is correct, you need that. Dog must be able to stand up, turn around and lay down. No food or water in crate and not a big crate of dog will do it’s do in it. Do you use the crate for a jail.

Well you also can put your dog on a leash when you are at home and tie or hook the leash to your belt loop and where ever you go the dog goes and is also in the room you are in. You can tie her to the coffee table or kitchen etc but it has to be exactly where you are. Also keep the dog with you or in the crate. Even take your dog to the bathroom with you when you are housebreaking. This is so she or he does not sneak a peepee in while you are in doing your business.

Keep your dog on a schedule and stick to it. Make it fit to your schedule like 15 mins after you get up (if that works for you) the dog goes out. Make sure you are the one that at first is taking the dog out and do it always about the same time. I have done this for so many years that I can’t even sleep past the time I let my dog out on a day I can sleep in. Let your dog out just before you go to bed, than go to bed. Don’t stay up another two hours and than go to bed leaving the dog in the crate.

Only feed you dog twice a day. Morning and night time at about the same time you have dinner. Do not leave food down. Always provide fresh water until about 7:00 at night and than pick the water up. Do not free feed your dog. Treats are only given during training. I always give a biscuit in the crate at night when I put my dog in the crate for bed. Do not let an dog that is not housetrained sleep with you because it will slip of the bed and poop on the floor during the night.

If you have a cat. Pick up your cat food too, because the dog will not only eat it but it will cause loose stool.

I think I have covered everything. Crate, leash, schedule and control food and water. Also watch your dog and make sure it does not leave the room you are in.

Also have you tried a doggie door?
