My baby ferret doesn't know I exist...

Her name is Fondou. I’ve had her for almost a week now and she is not acknowledging me. It’s getting me sad. I try playing with her but that doesn’t work. She’s picky about food and doesn’t want to eat. When she does agree to have some food, she takes it from me and go hide it somewhere.

I don’t know how many of you would be reading this but thank you everyone who had answered my questions about my new pet ferret in this past week. I am so happy and excited that she is finally acknowledging me and she’s a great listener and learns quickly. She doesn’t have accidents and she knows where to head to when she needs to use the bathroom. She even know how to use a litterbox and I’ve only had it since yesterday! AND she’s actually FOLLOWING me around and playing with me. Thank you so much everyone!!!

I have 2 baby ferrets. They LOVE to play in boxes.Try that. Also they need to have a walk and run around.Find an open space for her. Also, carry them outside for some sun.Hope my tips work!

Answer #3

get her some toys. like like cat toys. little balls or crinkley paper. she is a baby so she is unsure of here new environment. handle her a lot or she will not be a friendly or loving pet. she will get used to her surrounds and eventually come around. ferrets are hard to train and they always run and hide any treat you give them. get a ferret book and it will tell you a lot you can do.

Answer #4

shes still aclimating! trust me my hamster was like that for more then a month! just let her get use to the smells and everything and she will be fine! dont try and pick her up that much either! cause she might still be unsure and scared! just give her food and that usually makes them like you! and dont be worried about her not eating sometimes! she is still getting use to everything! and if is running away with the food you give her! dont be alarmed either! she will come out of that! all rodents do that just for protection! she still doesnt know if your a friend or foe! give her some time

Answer #5

im afraid if I give her tooo much space all the time (which I do considering how ferrets sleeps most of the day), she will never warm up to me. Just like my dogs, if I give them space, they start acting distant towards me.
