Moving out.

Long story short. I am 17. My parents are divorced and they never had a custody agreement for their children. Up until 4 years ago I lived with my mum until she decided that she needed to move back to our home state. She didn’t have a steady income or housing so I could not leave with her then but now she does and she has invited me to come and live with her. I have already made all the necessary arrangements in order for me to move out of my fathers house, yet he is telling me that he is not allowing me to leave.

My question: Is there legally anything that can prevent me from moving out of my father’s house in North Carolina at the age of 17 to live with my mother knowing that my father does not has sole custody over me?

Answer #1

No there is no legal right. If you mom has a legal right over you, then ou must move in with her. You dad would be breaking the law by keeping you.
