Does anyone know the name of this movie?

does anyone know the name of a movie in which I think the mother had cancer… but she knew she was going to die and her younger daughter hadnt got her period yet, and she wanted to share that moment with her (mother). So her mom before dying tells her she can always write a letter to her (even if she is dead), that she was going to get it. And one day the mom dies and she sends a letter I think that to heaven saying she got her period … soemthing like that. I was REALLY young when I saw it and the other day I remembered a little. I would love to see it again or at least know the name of it”

lol I was gonna say stepmom till the period thing too.lolz…my girl maybe? I saw that movie when I was really really little and I dont remember it but I think there was a dead mom and a lil girl like 11 or 12 with a prob like that.
