Mountain water made my dog sick, any suggestions?
My dog went hiking with my husband and she drank mountain water. I think the water has made her sick. Any suggestions?
Yes…she could have picked up giardia from a natural stream. Also, if there are any bird contaminants (ie…like duck or goose poop, even from pond above the stream), in the water, that too, can give them a hellacious case of the runs.
Put her on white rice with hamburger boiled together…it’s a bland doggie diet…if she continues being sick for 2 days…get her into the vet…(take a fresh stool sample in when you go), so they can test it right away. If she has the runs, and generally doesn’t feel good, they’ll give her Flagyl to settle her tum…they’ll suggest boiled rice and burger or chicken, but you’ll have beaten them to the punch on that angle.
Also…deer poop is VERY tempting in the woods, and very available…she could have eaten some before you even saw it happen.
Keep her quiet, and all the fresh water she wants…

PS…I’m sooo sorry, chubbiebutters, about you losing your dogs in that pet food fiasco!! How awful! :(
have you taking her to the vet?? that would be the first thing I would do I had two rottweillers and they got very sick and I didnt realize that it was the dog food that was recalled but they never mentioned the food I was giving them and they ended up dying im not saying it could be the food but if she is getting sick I would get her seen before it does get worse k hope I helped
