Hi,

I found this on an emergency first aid site about exhaust pipe burns:

keep the burn covered using neosporin and gauze for the next two weeks. Change the dressing twice a day for at least the next 7 days, making sure that you wash the burn with luke warm water and soap each time the dressing comes off. These burns usually heal in about two to three weeks. When the skin has recovered the burn and no open areas remain, get a good hospital quality unscented skin protector like Mederma, Eucerin, A&D cream, or a Diaper rash cream like Desitin. Use this at night and a sunblock during the day time. Sun is NOT your friend on burns and slow healing substantially. Expect to see some residual redness in this area for up to a year (depends on how deep the burn really is) but there should be no scars unless there are some deeper third degree areas within the burn. Watch for any indication of infection. When blisters break take a small piece of sterile gauze and pull the dead skin away, wash and recover with the neosporin and sterile gauze.
