memorizing a poem

I have to memorize a poem in french in one week. its about two paragraphs long. how do I memorize it fast?? I have to recite it in front of my class without looking at anything. does anybody have any tips on this? espiecially since its in another language?

Answer #1

Seriously, you need to learn it in Spanish first. Spend at least a week covering it in Spanish and then switch to French about 6 hours out. Rosetta stone does not have squat compared to my technique. Languages I have learned in the past week: Great Ape, whistling, sign language, C++, Farsi, Mandarin and Ebonics. Pretty impressive isn’t it?

Buona fortuna!!

Answer #2

I have to memorize lines, full plays even, constantly. What I do is either read it so much you become accustomed to ever nuance, or (this can be simpler) just take it line by line and repeat them in your head until they are set in stone. The best thing to do is, memorize at night. For some reason while you sleep, your brain soaks in what you were doing, and by morning you will be surprised about how much you retained.
