I don’t know about meiosis, but mitosis is the process when one cell creates a duplicate cell, which creates a duplicate cell, etc.

Mitosis is any cell division EXCEPT for creating the gametes or sex cells that are the spermatozoa and eggs - which is meiosis. Mitosis creates IDENTICAL DIPLOID daughter cells. Meiosis creates haploid daughter cells.
