As far as emails–I don’t blame your parents there. Unsupervised emails and internet time leads to all sorts of nightmares. Just look at the crap they show on Nightline with the child predators and stuff. The internet is a free for all of all sorts of unhealthy, scary, and threatening things and your parents should protect you from that! It’s like Dave Chapelle’s skit on if the internet was a real place, like the mall—it would be the most horrible and scary place on earth! My son is allowed to have email on hotmail at age 11 under the condition that I set up the account and that I control the password and to whom he gives his email address. Sorry, but them’s the rules. There’s plent of time for note and letter passing at school the old fashioned way, like we used to do. Keep the emails and internet stuff clean. So, you need to just go with your parents on that one.

As far as your diary–I do believe it’s your job to hide that better than you are. But as a parent, I will search and read for my kid’s diary only if I suspect there is something going on (drugs, sex rock and roll, etc.) ANNNND, I wouldn’t tell the kid I read it. I’d just use it as a compass for making sure the kid is on the right track. Look, when I was a kid, I knew that if my dad found my diary that he’d read it. So it’s sort of an unspoken pact that the kid does the bests he/she can to hide the thing and the parents sneak a read if they can or find it. That’s just he way it goes on that one.

Hooray for your parents not letting you run around all nutty and crazy on this here internet and whatnot. I mean–would you let your kid run on this internet unsupervised? How frightening, think about it!

try and find a really good hiding place for your diary and put a password on your computer that only you will no write it on a piece of paper to remember it and hide it with your diary. If you want to talk to boys without them interfering then meet up with them somewhere no where near your home

oh gosh your parents sound like freaks. Let them know that them getting into all your buisness and now letting you have a little bit of space is going to freak you out and make you start hideing things from them. Let them know that it is possible and you can do it so they get nervouse. Because, in all reality kids don’t know the strength they have in this circumstance. There parents think that spying on there children is healthy but it’s going to cause you to push away from them and try and hide everything. Let them know you will open up more to them if they back off a little and give you some space. Tell them you aren’t trying to do anything wrong or untrustworthy.

If what your saying is right then its probably cos they care alot about you. Maybe you should sit down with your family and try to explain how you feel and in most cases they will listen and you can sort something out so you dont feel like you do. if you want to talk then let me know and id be happy to help
