What does the mass deaths of the birds in the news lately have to do with the bible?

At dinner last night the restuarant had the news on and i asked my fiance what he thought the deal was with the birds. All he said to me was its in the bible….and he left it at that. I didnt want to pry anymore since we generally dont discuss religion due to our religous differences but im curious as to what hes speaking off.

Answer #1

The Bible prophecies that in the end times, the days before Christ comes back to earth to claim His people (Christians), strange and odd things will begin happening in the world. It speaks of many natural disasters (the more frequent earthquakes, i.e. Haiti and Chile) and strange things (birds and fish turning up dead). While this may have been caused by trauma from the New Year’s Eve fireworks, this hasn’t before with the many other New Year’s celebrations. Why hasn’t this happened before? This is most likely a sign of the end times. Do not get me wrong though. I am not saying that the world is about to end anytime soon, even within the next week (although it could). I am just saying that we are rapidly approaching the time when Christians will leave this earth with their long-awaited Messiah and live eternally with him in Heaven.

Answer #2

Nothing. There is not a single specific reference anywhere in the Bible to anything happening in the world today. Everything in the Bible is talking about either events contemporary to the time written, or events expected to happen in the very near future of the time written. Claims otherwise are just attempts to make an irrelevant prophecy relevant again. Prophecies of natural disasters and wars are vague and could apply to every generation prior to this one.

Answer #3

NUTTIN. I agree w/Axel

Answer #4

Mass animal deaths have happened before. So have earthquakes and other natural disasters.

Answer #5

you have to agree though. we do not know when the “future” part of the Bible will take place. so who knows? Now could be the Bibles future. we will never know!

Answer #6

The early Christians, including the authors of the New Testament, expected Jesus return within their lifetimes.

Answer #7

I’m not aware of anyone correctly predicting the future from Prophecy. After events occur I hear claims that the event matches a prophecy. but they way they are written they could mean a lot of things.

Christians have been predicting the end times since the very beginning. I think of it as a “going out of business” sale for God. Quick, get your salvation before it is too late!

Answer #8

So what you are actually saying is that the Bible doesn’t say ANYTHING about the MASS DEATH OF BIRDS.

However it “… speaks of many natural disasters ….. and strange things …” ….. . ….. which you then interpret as “… birds and fish turning up dead …”

Answer #9

Yet he did not. If he did, surely there would have been record of it. His return is imminent.

Answer #10

He returned after 3 days. To tell the disciples to spread the word right? Revelations talks about the end of the world. I believe that no matter what we should live a life as He will return today not tomorrow. what happens if today is the day?

Like the saying, “I’d rather live my life as there is a God and die and find out there isn’t. then to live my life as there is no God, and die and find out there is.”

Though I believe fully in God. I believe Jesus will return one day.

Answer #11

Yikes! That’s scary to interpert it like that. A going out of business sale. But boy does that bring light on things.

Answer #12

All of the books contained in the New Testament were written after the time Jesus is said to have lived, something agreed upon by the vast majority of Biblical scholars. Clearly, the authors were expecting an imminent Second Return when they ascribed words to Jesus like those in Mark 13:30-33. The book of Revelations is not a book prophesying the End Times. It is a book that heavily criticizes the policies of the Roman Empire, but does so in symbol out of necessity.

Answer #13

Hear the word of the LORD, ye children of Israel: for the LORD hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land. By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood. Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth therein shall languish, with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven; yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away. Hosea 4:1-3

I hope and pray this answers your question God bless

Answer #14

It won’t be much of a blessing if He takes away the fishes of the sea (we need those Omega-3 Oils), nor if He allows us to languish in the fields, especially if they are full of rotting birds.

Answer #15

You are heavily armed with knowledge. I commend you for that. The things I believe is that the authors spoke of things that they experienced or things that were given to them by God to write. The authors were expecting the return of Jesus. Wouldn’t they be so lucky to have been a part of that. Only God knows when he will send His son back to us. I’m not as knowledgable as you to where I can quote scripture. I just know what i’ve been taught and what or pastor preaches about the Bible and God as well as what my parents taught me. Whether the authors saw him come back or not. It is said that one day He will be here. I wish i had a better explanation. i just hope I am ready for the return of Christ.

Answer #16

@b91083 although my own attitudes are largely consistent with those of AxelB, I very much admire the strength of your faith and loyalty to your sources of religious knowledge. I trust no-one will attempt to undermine that faith while it remains a guiding principle supporting your moral outlook on life and compassion for others of whatever creed they may follow.

– Best wishes - Majikthise.

Answer #17

I agree, your religious views are your own and you are free to choose them. My only advice would be not to rely completely on the views of your pastor or even your parents, but to do your own thinking and research, and reach your own conclusions. If you do that and decide to keep your current beliefs, that’s perfectly fine. But don’t be afraid to question them, either.

Answer #18

I should add that I don’t presume to tell you what to believe better than your parents, only that it’s not uncommon for children to reach different points of view than their parents. That is how it’s been in my own family.

Answer #19

Lets say that u were right Axel and explore one of teh prophechies. The book of Daniel gives a prophecy to teh Jews while they were in babylonian captivity about the world powers that would rule before Jesus returns. Babylon, Greece, Medio-Persia, then Rome. All these prophecies came through exactly. In my study of Revelation i have learnt that Rome will once again rise to power and persecute true christians again. If all these prophecies came through exactly. wouldnt it be logical to suggest that the final peice which is Jesus’ return will also happen?

Answer #20

Yeah.. but we cant blame God for these things. they hapen as a direct result of our actions here on earth(like pollution). God gives us laws to protect us and He tells us that these things will happen so we can avoid it. God is the creator and He sustains life and when we continue to reject Him, we also reject His protection.

Answer #21

@ FilletOfSpam.. 1 Corinthians 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. God wants to reveal Himself to you but you have to be willing let go of your beliefs and let God teach you. Thats the only way you will understand the Bible Prophecies. Did you know that it was predicted twice that Babylon would never to be inhabitted again. even today it is still desolate. Jeremiah 51:36-38, Isaiah 13:20-22

Answer #22

@bornagain “… Did you know that it was predicted twice that Babylon would never to be inhabited again. even today it is still desolate. …”

The ancient city of Babylon was located in what is now called Iraq, about 50 miles south of Baghdad, ….. ….. in the immediate vicinity of the town of Al Hillah that has a population of around a third of a million, in a wider region where the population density is between 50 and 500 per square kilometre.

So the prophets description proved wrong, then, I take it.

Just like the prophesies in the Book of the Apocalypse / Revelation to St. John - which were clearly originally written in reference to a time prior to the Emperor Nero, when the “Number of the Beast” was recorded as 616 in the Holy manuscripts, ….. ….. and then rewritten (in later copies) to refer to Nero by renumbering the Beast to 666 which was consistent with “Nero” numerology.

– Best wishes Majikthise.

Answer #23

I do have my own views and than you both. My views are just as is. God created the heavnes and the earth and it was good. God made man and then made woman out of man. He then created the 10 commandments which we are to live by. Many more things he gave us. God is a loving God. we are all his children. He made each one of us different in his siten loves us for every grain we are. But we are to fear Him as well. For He is powerful. “For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only son who died for us so that we may have eternal life.” Jesus was born to this earth by a virgin. Lived a sinless life, performed miracles, taught amazing lessons. He as a man was nailed to a cross hung there deprived of water, taunted, poked, whipped, tortured. He did that feeling all human pain. Giving his life for us. Because we live sinful lives. He then rose again from the dead to show us. I believe in heaven and satan is real. I believe the only way to get to heaven is through Christ. I also believe that we are put here as followers of christ. disciples. to spread his word and share the good news of him and our riches and glory in heaven that is awaiting us. He is coming again one day. I want to be ready. I want to know that people around me are ready to face him. And if they pass before he gets here. that they are ready to face the day of judgement nd that the gatesof heaven will be opened for them.

This is what i believe!

Answer #24

i mant and thank you both. not than you both.

Answer #25

Answer #26

Thats where u wrong.. THE RUINS OF ANCIENT BABYLON lie “between Baghdad and Najaf, at a point due east of Karbala. The Euphrates originally swept past Babylon, but then shifted nine miles to the west.””Nowadays, the ruins of Ancient Babylon covers about 302 km lying on the east bank of Euphrates 90 km south of Baghdad and about 10 km north of Hilla.”

Even Saddam tried to rebuild it but failed.

Answer #27

I do not believe there is any connection between the Apocalypse and the Aflockalypse.
