Can you have a lynx as a pet?

I saw clips on youtube on people owning linxes(or some kinda bobcat) anyone know if its actually legal 2 own lynxes in north america (canada) if so haiiii want one:)

Answer #1

You’ll have to check with your city by-laws…some do allow wild animals as pets under certain restrictions.

Answer #2

It depends on what state or country your in and what their wild animal laws are. Some allow it, but it requires tons of permits. Its not a good idea though, wild animals will always be wild and unpredictable no matter how friendly they seem at first.

Answer #3

thats not true dont u remember christian the lion?

Answer #4

Remember the Sigfried and Roy tiger attack?

Answer #5

Yes and have you seen the woman who had her entire face, hands, etc eaten off by a pet monkey who was thought to be tamed. Wild animals are wild animals…they arent meant to be pets in a home and they will always have those basic instincts in them.

Answer #6

eew i hate monkeys i agree with u though, even my cat seems so imprisoned in my house, i wanna let him out but hes been so spoilt and pampered that if he were 2 go outside hed get eaten…

Answer #7

noo was it their pet?

Answer #8

Yes, she raised it from a baby. There are several cases where this has happened. Quite tragic really.

Answer #9

i think you need a contract

Answer #10

Lynx, Mountain Lions, Cougars are wild animals. People do keep them as pets but being wild animals they remain dangerous and unpredictable no mater how well you think they are are domesticated. Even professional animal handlers are sometimes killed by animals.

I visited a big cat sanctuary in Arkansas. This is a place for lions, tigers, mountain lions etc. that need homes; most of them were privately owned then the owner realized how dangerous and impractical owning a big cat was. There was a mountain lion there that was owned by a 84 year old woman who let it sleep with her every night. When she passed away the mountain lion had no place to go. I would like to see the face of an intruder when they saw kitty after breaking in.

Another cat they had was a liger. A liger is a hybrid of a male lion and a female tiger. Ligers grow larger than a lion and tiger combined. That cat was bigger than bears I’ve seen. I can’t imagine anyone outside a zoo wanting to keep an animal like that.

Answer #11

In Montana it’s legal to have a Bobcat, but not a Lynx (they’re endagered)….there are breeders who have many generations of Bobcats that have been kept in captivity, making them less wild. They sell them declawed, since even in play they can rip your skin (or other pets skin)….

They aren’t a pet for the light hearted that’s for sure.

Answer #13
