can you really lose weight by not eating after 8 pm?

how does that work…like what difference does it make?

Answer #1

Eating late in the evening, or at night isn’t good because then, you don’t have time to burn the calories off by walking through the house, cleaning, playing around, etc…

Answer #2

It doesnt have to be at 8. The rule is to not eat atleast 2-3 hours before you go to bed, three being better. Its because when your awake and moving around your body is burning off calories that you just consumd, if you go to sleep right after eating you dont give your body time to work those calories off.

Answer #3

I think the theory behind it is that after 8pm you’re not really moving about a whole lot, and you’re slowly slowing down and soon you’ll be asleep, and while you’re vegging out or sleeping your metabolism’s quite low, so you’re not burning many calories. It not so much that it helps you to lose weight, but more that you’re not hoarding unnecessary calories while you sleep (:

Answer #4

actually the recommended thing for eating is not to eat anything after 6 in the evening. and to always eat breakfast

Answer #5

my family eats dinner at like 8:30 and i never have breakfast…woops

Answer #6

Saaaaaaaaaaaame aha, i’m screwed then! :’)

Answer #7

haha yeah i rarely have breakfast but thats the “recommended” way of eating. but yeah i never eat b4 6 cause i always end up hungry later so i like normally eat around 630-7. haha 830 is alil late for every day but every once and awhile its fine. it all depends on what you do at night really.

Answer #8

A breakfast that’s high in protein speeds up the metabolism, making it easier to lose weight. I say eat dinner earlier and get up earlier to make a good breakfast :)

Answer #9

It’s recommended that a person does not eat usually 3 hours before they sleep. That is an exception to some individuals though, such as bodybuilders who have to consume some type of casein (slow-digesting protein) in order for their muscles not to be eaten away during the night. Because even though, you don’t burn a lot of calories, you still burn them at night.

What I mean by this is, I stop eating at 9 P.M. usually, and tend to fall asleep at around 1 A.M. Since I have not consumed any high-calorie foods for nearly 4 hours, while still being awake, I now need to consume a high-casein protein. This is usually found in yogurts or bananas, because it takes a long time for these proteins to be fully digested (hours). By doing that, your muscles have stored these slow-digesting proteins and will not shrink as you sleep.

Losing weight doesn’t just require not eating after a set time though. It takes exercise to get your body into a healthy shape. Without a form of exercise, you’re just eating healthy, which will only be around a 5% result in weight loss.

Answer #10

It all depends on when you go to sleep. Your body stops metabolizing food while sleeping so it is recommended that you allow your body a sufficient amount of time to digest your food before going to sleep or laying down. If you want to loose weight drink lots of water, cut back on all added salts and sugars and cook your food in its most natual state. (No oils, cooking sprays, salts or sugars) herbs and spices are a great way to ad flavor without adding salt.

Answer #11

What you should do is eat your 3 regular meals, but a small portion. Then eat a good and healthy snack between them. Also, you should drink a glass of WATER before eating the meals. And if it doesnt make a difference, drink a bit more water. That’s supposed to let you eat less. Good luck

Answer #12

You are more likely to lose weight with regular exercise and healthy eating than eating before 8pm.
