oh, I hated that book when I had to read it in 8th grade. from what I remember, the major themes of the book we discussed were religion (simon being innocent and angel like, while the pigs head represented the devil) and how the kids became less and less civilized and became more primitive the longer they stayed on the island. sorry, if this doesnt help, I forget what exactly happened.
