Look At The Chart & Answer Me This

Look at the chart, (It’s beliefs in America) then answer me, why do Christians complain they’re being stamped out? If your answer is because not all are real Christians, again I ask, Why not help them understand it better & eave those firmly planted outside your religion alone?

Note: not trying to seem crud, I just have a lot of questions about this religion I guess

A basic tenet of christianity or your understanding of the religion is proselytizing. It can be aggravating but should be taken as a hand to fellowship. If you take it that way then I cant slight you. Always exceptions to every rule. Try to ignore those people. Christians are human. No better or worse than you. Deserving of equal consideration beyond how they categorize themselves. Are you big enough to offer that? Sometimes we as people have to tolerate behavior from people that we don’t exactly care for. Welcome to humanity. It is a pleasant avenue to live on. Seeing the best in people. It requires you make a few sacrifices and long held notions or castigating opinions only serve to make you a bad neighbor. You have your counterpart on the christian numbered houses…undoubtedly. So choose to be their antagonist/nemesis…reap that reward…exasperation…or tell the mean spirited people of the world to go to hell, be they christian, muslim, jew, hindu, buddhist, taoist, atheist, etc…

Flossheal, you are right. The evangelical Christianity in America is so fused with politics and patriotism that it bears little resemblence to Jesus’s message or anything I would consider good. One of their favorite tactics is to cry “persecution” at the drop of a hat when when we refuse them special privileges or fail to sign their religious beliefs into law.

Since the Bible says that Christians will be persecuted for following Christ, I think these people also feel that their imaginary persecution somehow makes them closer to God. I beg to differ. The loudest talking heads of this community make a lot of money dividing our country and wasting our tax money with their demands. They never fail to be in the limelight telling us how we should live or think or even vote. If they behaved more like Jesus instructed, they might find people more willing to listen to them.

I am very prideful in my belief my worst of sins(of the 7 deadly) being pride & wrath I don’tmind the people in the religion just the religion in itself & ignorent people(no matter what religion they are, ignorent plp in genral)

Then why all the christian baiting? If you have problems with the religion in and of itself…dont be an adherent. Antagonizing people will inevitably cause you grief.
Take that for what it’s worth. Live and let live I say. Good to see you’ve taken the initiative and ventured out on your own to search out your own path. Be sure that you are there for your benefit…be careful not to find another path that circles back on itself, and yourself bemused. Why throw stones at the people you disagree with?…if not to attract similar attention?…For your consideration…ponder it…you don’t have to try and convince me that it is a relevant question.

It’s odd, isn’t it? (Your point about the chart and the claim to be persecuted.) I don’t supposes they are all ‘Real Christians’; for example my father-in-law will always put ‘Church of England’ on anything that asked about his religion, but he darkens their doors once a year and thinks his son and I are crazy to be committed Christians. But that doesn’t give the whole picture, as you realise.

There is genuine and terrible Christian persecution going on in some countries. Often it’s countries where other minorities are also persecuted - China and Burma come particularly to mind. But sometimes it’s simply against Christian-born families, not even checking to see if the individuals persecuted are ‘real Christians’ or simply labeled that way as an accident of birth.

So, do I think Christianity in the US is being ‘stamped out’? (I’m European so I have no practical experience in the US). I think that mainstream evangelical Christianity has become so politicised in the US that its demands are now as much (or more) political than they are Christian. Rather as I refuse to listen to my sons when they make a ‘demand’, but always try to listen if they put up a rational request, I would like to see Christians taking a helpful, broad-based and valid part in society and politics, and thus earning (rather than ‘demanding’) the right to speak.
