Long Songs

Why aren’t long songs popular in the main stream? Some of my favorite songs are long and I think they are great because it gives the song a more epic feel. Some of these songs are: Symphony X - The Odyssey(Around 25 minutes long) Rush - 2112(Around 20 minutes) Dream Theater - Six Degree’s of Inner Turbulence(almost 45 minutes long) These are some of my favorite songs that are 20+ minutes long, and there are countless songs that are 10+ that I enjoy. Why aren’t these songs extremely popular in the mainstream music scene?

I think, it consume more time… a song with 20 minutes is time consuming…maybe equivalent to 5 songs..
