How long does it usually take to get results back from an MRI?

2-3 weeks in my experience.

When my dad went for one it only took about a week for him to get the results back. It took my brother about two and a half weeks, though. I think usually it depends on the doctor. I’d give a rough estimate of 1-3 weeks, however. [I’m in Ontario, too.]

I agree. 2 weeks is about the normal time. A bit longer at busy times or times of increased workload due to staff shortages etc..

I agree with everyone’s 1-3 weeks, though if your Dr. feels it is an emergency they’ll push it through much faster. I was sick a couple of years ago and got tests results back in just a day or two because it was an emergency. My husband has a MRI this week too, I hope it doesn’t take 3 weeks for the results, I’m nervous enough already!

Results can be given the same day. The problem is that taking the test is only one of many steps. The main one being the specialist has to read the findings and do a report. So basically some specialists come in once or twice a week and do a lot of test reports at the same time.

i had about more then 5 and it takes a week and a half

It doesn’t take too long because I had an MRI last year. I was having headaches every morning. A few days later the results said I had MS. I was happy it wasn’t nothing too serious. So it should be a few days.
