Lip ring or lip stud?

I’m thinking about getting my lip pierced and I was wondering which one do you prefer? Does the stud hit against your gums?

Answer #1

ya rings will

Answer #2

yea I’m affraid that the lip ring/stud is going to rub aganist my gums or chip my teeth. I heard that the lip stud doesn’t really hit your gums but I don’t no if that’s true.

Answer #3

Studs tend to look better because they aren’t so big but some people can pull the rings off.

Answer #4

I personally like a Stud instead of a ring. I have never gotten one, so I wouldn’t know if it brushes against your gum. Sorry. =)

Answer #5

I dunnoe to cause I’ve heardd so many bad things about studs like your lip healing over the back and you havee to havee it cut outt ect… butt studss look a lott better I may havee mine pierced with a ring then when healed change into a lovely studd :) …x

I just got my side bottom lip pierced. I got a ring and yes I had to get a large ring because I have very full lips. I like it but one thing it look a little carzy but it feel good and very easy to clean. I dint get the studs to me it just seems to take more work to clean and a chance of having gum problem is to much. So good luck!!!

Answer #7

girl=stud

guy=ring

just my opinion lol

Answer #8

yes, the stud does hit your gums more then the actual ring will however, you wont really notice it unless you say, ran into something or got hit in the face and it got pushed really hard against your mouth/teeth then is the time to worry!

Answer #9

Hm… I have to say that the studis definately more pleasing to the eye than a ring, but so many people are getting their lip peirced now that I think it’s wa-a-ay over done… Not to mention, my sister had one, and it was creepy when she ate ‘cause it moved around a lot. Yuck! >.<’

So… I’d consider something else. Like a nose, eyebrow, or cartalidge because the lip (Ring or stud) is totally over-done.

Love and Luck!

I had snakebites (double lip piercings) twice for a couple months and have other multiple body and facial piercings. I had to get studs in my lip for work, and I tried a couple different pieces of labret studs. Each was a relatively smooth backing so it didn’t really irritate my gums, although you could still feel it. I immagine if you have sensitive gums it will take getting used to and some backings are worse than others. I also had a labret stud made of plastic in the backing (piece placed against my gums) and that was quite comfortable.

I am getting pierced with rings this time, and will let you know how irritating that is towards my gums.

Hope I helped.

Answer #11

Personally I think the ring looks stupid. I don’t know if it rubs against your gums. But I I used to have my labret pierced (which is still your lip…just lower I guess) and the part that is in your mouth is a flat piece of metal. So it does rub, but it won’t bug you. As with any piercing you just have to get used to it and you won’t even feel it really anymore

Answer #12

Thanks for your advice.

After all the research I’ve done I’ve decided not to get it .

Answer #13

YES… the stud will rub against your gums/teeth

Answer #14

I just got my bottom lip pierced (left side) today, and it was really easy. Personally, I love studs. They’re easy to clean, and yeah they do rub against your teeth, but it doesn’t do any damage, and plus if you have the rings, it’ll be really awkward to kiss someone. But with the studs, it’s really easy to kiss and everything like that. So, Studs! (:

Answer #15

stud! =D

Answer #16

Well most people are getting studs because they are hot! So I would say stud, but they might do something to your gums! Maybe you should get your lip peirced!

Answer #17

I have had my lip dome now 10 years. Always had a ring. Studs do tend do be a pain with the plate digging in. But its allk personal preference. How ever you feel more comfortable. Good luck. And I hate side lip rings. They look gay. Lol.

Answer #18

I prefer rings. Studs dig into your gum and just irritate it. But its each to their own.

Answer #19

I have my lower lip pierced, and its a silver ball/stud.

and the first time they pierce you , you get a flat back stud, and the closer you get to your lip the less chance you have of it rubbing against your gums. it hasn’t done any damage so far, but try to get flat backs.

Answer #20

i have my lip pierced at the bottom right, and it’s a stud i have. i can’t decide either, whether to change to a ring or not. i also have my nose pierced, but it’s also just a small stud. i regret getting both, but i like them both on their own. i’m just wondering if a subtle ring would look better, rather than two studs on my face?
