I was about to put the needle thru my lip then I read these comments & I stopped. thanks you guys for everythingg. it helped, I hate when other people get cloose to me with needles. but id rather have it donr professionally then hit a vessel & be paralyzed. my parents want seem to let me get snake bites, [ which I want ] I mean their awesome. I dont want them to ‘ fit in ‘ or nothing. :) thanks for the help !

Lmao..wow people tend to be a little retarded nowadays… well first of all, you really do need to get it professionally done. but your not so on with the answer… you do have veins on your lip but who cares. you have veins practically everywhere I pierced my own lip and a friends. yeah it bleeds duuuh! but not so much just make sure to get it where you want it and to clean it as often as you can

I’ve pierced mine myself. its not a problem to do it yourself if you do it correctly.

Buy a HOLLOW piercing needle 14 or 16 gauge and a post or ring of the same gauge but with a large diameter or long length (to accommodate swelling) and a shorter one to change to in a few weeks,(painfulpleasures.com sells piercing supplies as well as jewelry).

Don’t use ice to numb it (you’ll bleed more) if you need to numb it there’s this lovely cream called emla. (bmeshop.com sells it)

When you pierce do it from the inside of the lip (less painful and it goes easier) just make sure it’s where you want it first!

Do it in one or two quick pushes (that’s where the numbing cream comes in handy or have a friend do it for you) push the needle mostly through then put the end of the post or ring into the end of the needle and push it the rest of the way through then put on the balls and you are done.

After, soak it twice a day with salt water (1/4 teaspoon salt and 8 ounces of water) and once a day clean around it with antibacterial soap on a q-tip.

Don’t touch it at all for the first month or so other than cleaning it.

Don’t change the post/ring for a month or two either (balls can be changed right away) if you need more help or have anymore questions I can be reached on aim msn and yahoo, my sns on all are avalaroux.

(I did my lip ring when I was 12 by the way, and I know a lot about piercings having done 11 on myself about 20 on other people and apprenticing as a piercist).

vessels in your body pop everyday there are NO major veins going through your lip the only factors you have to consider are: making sure the needle is sterile do it from inside out, less blood & pain, also take cleaning measures, labrets are one of the most harmless piercings, you just have to be informed.

I just went literally a couple of hours ago to a professional piercer and they still hit my vein!

DO NOT DO IT YOURSELF as you’ll most likely pass out from the amount of blood you lose.

I cannot stress enough how important it is to go see a professional and get them to do it right.

Get them to look on both sides of your lip for veins and get out the flash light so there is no chance of you getting done what happend to me.

It scared the crap out of me, my lip is literally BLACK and I can’t go back for weeks to even think of getting it done again.

Ontop of all this I STILL don’t have a piercing!

I had to go to the doctor to make sure I hadn’t lost too much blood and was made to drink this cordial sugar stuff to stop me from passing out. This is not a joke, Here is a pick of the bruise it left on my vein.

ignore the last person who is messing with you to be cruel

lips contain blood VESSELS which get infected faster then you can count to 1,000,000, and I aculy ment that, I think if you are going to do that, then you need a really, really brilliant way of hideing it. But I would say, don’t do it, if you want it done I would snag 50 bucks, wait untill you parnets leave to get it done at the mall or something, I meant think about it? want to pay 50 bucks for it? Or do you want to pay fifty-hundered dollars in medical bills. If they won’t allow you to, then I would suggest to get your parents in a good mood, then prosuad them, by useing “MAY I PLEASE…?” it works almost everytime.

…you’re not going to be paralyzed from a lip piercing. LMFAO

I just pierced mine 3 days ago [with a hallow needle ‘cause I know wtf to do]. I wake up with blood encrusted on it. but it’s not that much blood; I think I just hit the ring when I toss and turn in bed. I’ve pierced my lip before on the side, it bled but not like in the middle. Im kind of curious why it bleeds more in the middle? I just heard theres Capillaries in the lip, no veins or anything…lol right? or your lip would have a pulse..?

well being 14 id say go to a profeshional! ask your mum, but sit her down and say something like …look I really want this I could do it myself but it would be much safer if you took me somewere that does it peroperly there are a lot of things that can go wrong, you could do it crooked…but most of all whatever your probably going to perice it with the body wont be able to handle…there tends to be a lot more swelling and higher risk of infection if you do it yourself… save up the 40 bucks or som and tell your mum that youd like to do it safely… but dont get it because everyone else has onetget it if you really want it
