Answer #1

Answer #2

I did that. It doesn’t go away for some reason.

Answer #3

cutting you hair wont do anything to get rid of them put some tea tree oil in your shampoo or conditioner this will kill them then put all the other things that have lice on them (hairbands ect) in a bag in the freezer this will kill them too

Answer #4

try hitting your house with a bug bomb. it’s like ten bucks for a 4 pack at home depot. I know you’re supposed to wash all your sheets, clean your carpets, etc. maybe bombing it will do that for you…good luck.

Answer #5

you have to buy a special shampoo and someone has to comb your hair and take all those little creatures off your hair

Thhe only thing that will get rid of lice and nit eggs is to use a lice slution as directed. KP24 is the best. Then you need to physically remove the eggs from the hairstrands…it is time comsuming and very frustrating. But HAS to be done. Miss one egg and the cycle starts all over again. Repeat the process in 7 days. Hair reatment and physical remoal of eggs. I nit cannot live without a scalp after 24 hours. Always check close to the scalp for eggs. The further away from the scalp the longer the egg has been there. The further away from the scalp usually means an empty egg. But in answer to your question. Treat the hair and scalp with an approved treatment (not a homemade job)…and remove eggs physically and repeat after 7 days…you might need to do the repeat bit for at least 4 to 5 weeks… and try to keep the days consistant…1 extra day can hatch an egg and start the cycle all over again.

We just can’t escape these critters. Washed everyone’s hair with 1% Permethrin, found “bombs” with a higher concentration and did the whole house. Washed everyting, all pillows/blankets in the dryer for 30mins on high. I comb and then spend hours, no joke - HOURS, to make sure I get every last nit. The I’m checking everyone’s hair 11am EVERY Saturday (yep - it’s in my calendar).

I can’t escape these things, they just keep coming back. What am I missing? It seems my life revolves around eradicating these little nightmares.

Any advise would be truly appreciated because I’m almost at the point of shaving everyone’s head ;o)

Sometimes horses will get lice and one of the things that we use on a new horse that comes in with them is Pemethrin. You can get it at a farmer’s co-op for about $12 a bottle. It’s the same ingredient as the doctor give or you find in lice shampoo. The benefit to buying it this way is that you can mix it stronger. We use 2oz per 32oz. of water. Also use lysol in your laundry. Lysol was made to kill those bugs. Make good and sure that cover all bases in your attack on them. Put the Permethrin in a sprayer and hit all the beds, chairs and floors. Don’t forget to spray under the beds. Try to not miss an inch. Make sure that all windows are open. One added benefit to Permethrin is that when it dries it’s safe. We spray the whole yard for fireants in the morning and by evening it’s safe for the horses to graze on. Hope this helps.
