Is it legal for a cop to pull you over because you did not pull all the way up to the white line at a red light, and then give you a ticket for any reason?

Answer #1

i think they just put that law up

Answer #2

What did he give you a ticket for? The line thing, or something else….

Answer #3

Well apparently so if he did it. However, it may not stick if you go to court. I’ve had more than a few tickets thrown out by getting a lawyer (either way, cheaper than paying the ticket).

Answer #4

You should probably talk to a lawyer about this.

Answer #5

In Australia a cop can pull you over for anything (thats illegal) and fine you for anything, including or not the thing they pulled you over for.

For example a cop can pull you over because they think you weren’t wearing a seatbelt then fine you for not wearing your seatbelt, and not for the seatbelt.

In Australia all traffic offences are regulatory offences which means cops don’t have an option but to fine you for anything and everything you do wrong.

Not sure about US though.
