How can i leave my dog easier?

Whenever I have to leave for school, or work, or even a trip run into town for half hour, I feel terrible leaving my dog behind, even if my family is around. (he is my dog, not my families, and he is closer to me than anyone else.) My boyfriends family has been inviting me camping for weeks now, and this is my last free weekend this summer due to camping, but I can’t bring my dog. My mom said she will care for him and such while I am gone, but I honestly started crying just thinking of leaving my dog behind, that is how close I am to him. I work nine hour shifts for 10 days straight starting Monday, so It would basically be like 13 days away from him, I just don’t know if I should stay home with him, or go camping with his family..Having a dog is a bigger responsibility than I thought :/

I think that you should think about it. What I mean to say is, when you leave your dog at home, just think that your mom’s gonna be there. And it is your dog so she will take perfect care of him, no doubt. You must really love your dog. :) I’ve never had a pet dog before, but my mom used to have 8 dogs and she said that she felt a bit better about leaving them at home when she thought of how grandma would take care of them. I don’t know if you understood what I’m trying to say! I’m sorry if you don’t. I’m just having a hard time explaining!

First of all I’m glad there are still people out there who actually care for their animals feelings! I have a dog too and love him to bits, he’s my baby and I totally get where you’re coming from, and it sickens me when I see people that have animals that just don’t acknowledge them at all and just leave them alone 24/7. But this isn’t you! I can tell your dog is already one of the luckiest dogs out there to have an owner like you who cares! It’s not like you’re leaving him alone for 10 days, you’ll be there every night after work, and he’ll be fine when you go camping cause he’ll be hanging out with your mum and family. He’ll be in his house still have your stuff around so he won’t be upset at all. He’ll be a bit bummed out that you’re not there but he’ll totally be so excited when you get home that it doesn’t matter to him any more! He’ll be fed, petted, loved, taken care of when you’re gone, he’ll be fine!

We had to leave our dog with my sister in law for 5 days when we moved house and I felt so bad, and physically sick missing him the whole time but when I picked him up he was so happy to see me- and also so happy anyway because even though I wasn’t there he was still having fun, he missed me but he knew I would come back so he was just having fun chilling with his new friends.

Honestly, you can’t stay home and miss out on things because you feel bad about your dog, he loves you and he knows you love him, and he doesn’t mind that you go out sometimes! Yes 10 days will be a long time, but he’ll see you after work in the evenings, and that’s all he wants! Is to see you, cuddle, and play when you have time. Dogs are not children, they do not need constant attention. They like to be by themselves sometimes and explore and do dog things. Rest assured he will find his own amusement, he won’t just sit and cry for you while you’re gone, don’t feel bad about leaving him- as long as you’re coming back!
