Why does laptop gets over heated and hangs just by working for 4-5 hours?

Answer #1

Are you using your lap top on a flat surface? Maybe you should get one of those stands to put your laptop on. They have holes in them, so that the laptop can get air.

Answer #2

Laptops often get warm or even hot after extended and/or intensive use. Usually, it’s nothing to worry about. If it really is overheating it will turn off to prevent damage. If it is overheating, make sure you are not blocking the vents, and have it on a hard surface so air can flow around it. You could even try one of the many laptop cooling pads, especially if the room is hot or you’re using it outside on a hot summer day.

due too the heat the processor get fuzzy so when u use it continuously then it is over heated and hangs

Answer #3

I would get some canned air and blow out the heat sink on it, this may help, also on some laptops you can turn down the performance, this will reduce heat and power consumption.

Answer #4

When i get tired i also sit in my bed to work As we can carry laptop anywhere, i don’t keep it in certain place. But it gets heated up pretty soon and hangs

Answer #5

Well, they have the lap stands too, that allows you to use the computer on your lap…and it has holes in it as well for air. Some even come with fans I believe.

Answer #6

mine does same, i bought a laptop cooling tray from ebay £9, it works good, its got a gap where fan is and sits on legs well

on the battery icon click it, it says high performance, balanced and power saver, put it on power saver each hour

that should work

Answer #7

Most laptops have poor ventilation systems in them in order to save on space. If your laptop has a poor ventilation system then it will overheat and in most cases shut off. To fix the problem you need to either get a new larger custom cooling unit (which is vry expensive and hard to get and install), a laptop cooling tray (these are cheap and usually effective), or you could try placing a small wooden block under each corner of your laptop so that it has somewhere between 1/2” to 1” of space between the bottom of the laptop and the table.

Answer #8

Make sure you have plenty of space under the laptop to get good air circulation. Don’t use it or leave it sitting on cloth services. When on a desk for added air circulation stick a book or a deck of cards under the back 2 feet, w/o cover any ventilation grills.

Also blow it out with a can of air. There are usually several panels on the bottom that can be easily removed. Take those off carefully and blow any dust of them.

Other than that, as laptops get older their heat pipes seem to fail - and there isn’t much you can do about that. Hence why most people replace their laptops every 3-4 years.
