Answer #11

Common sense in regards to one of the answers, I hope. Please do “NOT” use an electric hot pad on your stomach when you get into the tub ! I’m afraid that may be the wrong way to end your cramps … rather permanently.

Answer #12

Not wierd at all. Actually, quite common…and there are answers for such all over the internet. Here are just a couple extractions from “out there somewhere”

The following was taken, in part, from www.WebMD.com…

To relieve mild menstrual cramps:

Take aspirin or another pain reliever, such as Tylenol (acetaminophen), Motrin (ibuprofen) or Aleve (naproxen). (Note: For best relief, you must take these medications as soon as bleeding or cramping starts.) There are over the counter products such as “Midol” which will quite often help. Place a heating pad or hot water bottle on your lower back or abdomen. Taking a warm bath may also provide some relief.

Rest when needed. Avoid foods that contain caffeine. Avoid smoking and drinking alcohol. Massage your lower back and abdomen. Women who exercise regularly often have less menstrual pain. To help prevent cramps, make exercise a part of your weekly routine.

If these steps do not relieve pain, your doctor can order medications for you, including:

Ibuprofen (higher dose than is available over-the-counter) or other prescription pain relievers. Oral contraceptives. (Women taking birth control pills have less menstrual pain.)

ALSO,

From the following website:

http://www.qassia.com/painful-periods-how-to-ease-menstrual-cramps

this has been extracted…

Drink Tea Drinking herbal tea such as peppermint, chamomile, lavender, raspberry leaf, chaste berry, helps to relax muscles and soothe tension. Chamomile contains a compound called glycine which helps relieve muscle spasms and lavender, peppermint have some anti-inflammatory properties.

Get Vitamin and Minerals Some vitamin/mineral supplements such as calcium, vitamin B6, magnesium, and iron have been shown to help reduce menstrual pain. It is best to get these vitamins and minerals from food sources-especially dark leafy green such as spinach and kale. However, there are some decent supplements that come in pill form such as the vitamins from Super Nutrition. Their products are vegetarian, food-based, and include organic herbs.

Eat Well Eating a low-fat diet with lots of fruits and vegetables will help ease pain. High fat diets ususally contain a lot of saturated trans- fats (butter, animal fats) which may metabolize into pro-inflammatory prostaglandins while good fats( oil oil, flaxseed oil, omega-3) metabolize into anti-inflammatory prostaglandins which may result in less pain.

Go See Your Doctor I you suffer severe menstrual pain you should see a physician. Your pain may be a result of other problems such as: fibroids, cysts, endometriosis, infections, abnormal pregnancies, and IUDs.

These two sites seem to “sum up” the overall advice that most of the sites have to offer.

I have further heard that deep breathing exercises and drinking plenty of water also helps… but I have no proof if it does or not.

Hope this helps some. Good Luck!

:-)
