What is La Traviata about?
I’m going to NYC to see the opera, but i have no idea what it’s about..nobody else does either..help?
Here is a little secret. The story behind most operas are kinda dumb. The libretto generally only serves to showcase the singers and music. There are exceptions. Wagner based his operas on myths so the stories are better than the silly little stories used in most operas. Gounad’’s Faust is based on Goethe’s literary work and is interesting though the opera is a bit overblown. FWIW La Traviata is about a fallen woman.
