What is "kinesics"?

Thanks for that question: I’ve never heard the word before, ….. . (scratches head, turns palms towards the sky and shrugs shoulders) . ….. and had to look it up in my dictionary- .

“… kinesics n study of communication and body language: the study of the ways in which people use body movements, for example shrugging, to communicate without speaking (takes a singular verb)
