What kind of skills do you need to work in a call center?

Unless you’re part of a specialized department (like tech support) then all you really need is good phone skills … they train you on everything else.

If it’s outbound telemarketing you also need to be incredibly thick-skinned - to take the abuse from the people you call… and basically follow all instructions exactly. The turnover is high because the conditions are difficult and the pay is usually comission based on how much you sell.

As posted it depends on the call center environment . Telemarketing, tech support, order entry, insurance, finance, etc.
All basically unless an entry level position require basic typing skill, and or knowledge of some common office programs such as MS word/Xcel l which is popular in the states. Most important are people skill and call handling times.
