Why won't my kidney stone pass?

Hi. I noticed your long write up about Urilfow. I was hoping you might have some answers/help for me. I started Uriflow 5 days ago. I have not have any ease of pain or anything yet. I am set for surgery to remove a 2-3 mm kidney stone that is right at the bladder entrance on Tuesday. I am so afraid of surgery and do not understand why this small stone will not pass into my bladder? help?

the rock is stuck in the urine passage and is to large to pass through due to lack of fluids in the body. Besides the doctors will give to anesthetics so you wont feel a thing.

God love you! I’ve been suffering from renal colic for the past 3 years. Apparantly, my left kidney is peppered with them and thr right has a few clusters. Had lithotripsy done a month ago and passed some fragmented pieces. However, that was just treatment for the right one. After an x-ray and ultrasound, the right kidney still had stones and the left hadn’t even been treated yet. Severe nausea and vomiting gave me an excuse to go to emergency dept. again. Threww up for 3 days straight with a wicked pain in my right side. Became septic. They sent me home with some dandy pain control but the nausea is relentless. Usually, treatment for stones that are not passing with ongoing syptoms is repeated lithotripsy procedures. All I can tell you is to drink water like you never have before and stay cosistant with it, strain your urine each time you void. I’m at my wits end and feel that the next route will be surgery. It definitely wears you down having pain. I feel like I have chronic morning sickness all day and I’m definitely through having children since I already have four. It’s no fun at all. I can definitely sympathize with you.

Sorry to say but the anesthetics they give you while removing kidney stones don’t work good. Just stay calm though, the pain shouldn’t last to long. I don’t want to scare you but my mom said it was the worst experience in her life. So you just have to prepare yourself for it. And remember once its done, ull be in much better shape..

Dear mom2a, What Stephanie reported above is not true for everyone. Many, and I do mean more than not have no trouble with this procedure. It is usually painless and quick. Relax and you will ease a bit in the pain. Once your surgery is over you will forget any pain you had and will again feel good. Speak with your doctor about any steps you can take so this may not happen again. Sometimes these are some causes Consuming too much calcium oxalate or food high in uric acid in your diet Drinking too little fluid Blockage of the urinary tract Certain metabolic diseases Recurrent urinary tract infections Consuming too much Vitamin C or D Bed rest for several weeks or more Certain medications Your doctor will go over these with you and advise. Sue…good luck
