Keloids, cause and treatment?

My cousin has this thing on the back of his ear lobe and he got it after he got his ear pierced…so if some one can look up some info about keloids and tell me what it is that would be great because im kinda busy now. But yea im really concerned I would love to know the treatments so I can tell him what to do to treat it.

Keloids?

Keloids are overgrowths of fibrous tissue or scars that can occur after an injury to the skin. These heavy scars are also called cheloid or hypertrophic scars. In individuals prone to keloids, even minor traumas to the skin, such as ear piercing, can cause keloids.
