Keloid on my lip?

I think I have a keloid on the inside of my lip piercing. it is not bleeding, it isnt sore, and it doesnt itch. But its kinda standing up. is this normal?

I was planning on calling my piercer, but I dont want to sound stupid, and worry about nothing

Answer #1

arrgghh

I think ill take my chances >.< my piercer said to give it time…and hes been piercing for 20 years, so ill go with what he says I guess

Answer #2

No Its not normal. Youll have to take your percing out and let it close. I had to do that with my nose. it will NOT heal if you dont take the ring out. It sucks

Answer #3

but I had the same thing with my nose piercing as well, and it went away…

what should I do?

Answer #4

just getting a second opinion

Answer #5

then why ask advice?

Answer #6

sea salt works for me but its not geting rid of it completely im going to try that tree oil thanks!

Answer #7

dont just assume that its normal while it does sound normal theres nothing wrong with going back to the peircer to get advice, thats what there there for, its also there job to help people with there peircing questions keep cleaning it regualry, it a common thing to happen and it should go away withing a few weeks, to a few months but if it constantly hurts por changes colour go back to the peircer or a doctor

Answer #8

I soaked my in sea salt soaks for a half hour for 4 days. and it dissapeared.

Answer #9

You do not need…or want to remove the piercing. The chance of something getting trapped in there is HIGHER and you don’t need a nasty infection along w the scarring. Sea salt soaks 2 times a day (1/4 tsp non-iodized sea salt & 1 cup of warm water) soak it 5-10 minutes 2 times a day. Before you go to bed apply tea tree oil (just a couple drops) to the area and leave it. Make sure you get 100% tea tree oil…lots of places have “tea tree oil” but when you look at the ingredients you will find that many have extra stuff in ‘em. It will eventually go away as long as you don’t play with your jewelry and take good care of it.

Answer #10

you don’t have to take out your jewelry for a keloid (or hypertonic scarring) to heal. your best bet would be to dry the area with a q-tip and apply tea tree oil to it a few times every day. I’ve done this for three piercings, and the keloids went away after about four days.

Answer #11

You can take the chance but its rare for the to go away. My pericer (SHES REALLY GOOD) told me to take mine out and let it heal. Then perice it again or it wont heal right
