How do I justify buying a $1500 bike to my mom?

(plz, idont want ppl bashing this post. i only want advice on how to do this)

Answer #1

Most you can really do is talk to her, tell her all of the pros of getting it and the quality of the bike. You could tell her you’d get a job to pay for it too and work hard for it.

Answer #2

i already hav more than enough money

Answer #3

Can it be viewed as an investment? In other words, will it increase in value? Is there a little depreciation so that you can sell it in a year and get most of your money back?

Is there a fitness angle that you can sell her on? I mean if it’s a bicycle..?

Answer #4

You need to explain why it is useful my parents are debating on if they should by me a 1200 dollar bike to get to school just as a way for me to travel to important areas use stuff like I do like ways to pay it off why it’s needed it how it will be better than other travel means.

Answer #5

Tell her you want to ride a lot, and if you want to do sports ( racing, dirt biking, whatever) you should also tell her.

Of course, a 300$ bike would also be OK… if you wanted to ride around the backyard twice a year. But if you ride the way you want to ride, you assume that a 300$ bike will break after two months. And then you will have to buy a new one. And that will make you buy 5 of the 300$ bikes in 10 months. And you assume that your planned 1500$ bike will last longer than 10 months and should thus be less expensive on the long run.

Either that, or buy a bike frame for 500$ today, a bike hydraulic breaks for 150$ tomorrow, a saddle for 50 $ in two days, 2 wheels for 100$ next week…

Answer #6

If it’s your own money, then you shouldn’t need any justification. However, the age old “expense = quality” argument is often a good one … tell her that it will last you a lot longer than a cheaper bike.

Answer #7

i hav no troubles staying shape. i run cross country and trak

Answer #8

Okay, my boyfriend rides flatland BMX and his bike costed me just about that. Its hard to convince a parent to buy something like that. If you purchase it with your own myoney they really cant say much to it. I bought my boyfriend riding gear and a new complete bike, and to all my friends they think I spent too much and its a dumb thing for a 25 year old man to spend that much money on, but to me and to him its worth it. Value is in the heart of the buyer. What is it worth to you?
