Where did the question go that I was supposed to answer?

I received an email to answer a question and when I clicked on to answer it the search page came up w/upteen questions. I have had several of those this week. I went through 12 pages and never did find the question so just gave up. Why not leave the question on and let us answer it?

Unfortunately, the questions disappear for a few reasons

  1. they break the rules, repeatedly, and then everything they did on the site gets deleted
  2. they request that a question gets deleted
  3. only a single one of their questions broke the rules, which was then deleted

Some things we really don’t want people to get help with - eg, starving themselves, trying to hack a website for malicious reasons, etc. 99.9% of the time, the questions that disappear are in this bucket.
