Lol, they do not care. You have to find a sitter. You have to go in or you’ll be fined. If you don’t pay the fine, you get a bench warrant for your arrest. You’re really making it worse on yourself than it should be. The only way you can fight it is if you are deathly ill (and you’ll need to bring a doctor’s note) or if you are already planning on being out of the state (you’ll need to show them your airline ticket stubs, etc.). You have to make the initial appearance, if they don’t call you for service on any jury, you’re done. If they do call you, then you can appeal to the judge and tell them why you cannot serve- it depends on the judge and the lawyers whether or not you’re dismissed or kept. It’s likely you’ll only have to go in for the one day- you owe it to your community to show up. You’d want your community to show up on your behalf if YOU needed, right? After that- appeal it, and I hope you don’t have to serve. But by playing this immature avoidance game with a government system, you’re just setting yourself up for failure and heavy fines.

mail it with an explanation you are a primary caregiver to a young child should get you off with some documentation like a copy of birth certificate.
