Jokes and stories

Heard the one about the man who was trying to get across a huge river? A large venomous snake came near and said, “I can carry you across, jump on.” “But you are a snake, you will bite me.” “Nonsense, climb aboard and I will take you across.” “OK.” As they got to the other side of the river, the man slid off the snake. Then the snake whirled around and bit him. As the man was about to die, he asked the snake why he bit him. “You knew what I was when you picked me up.”

The moral of the story is… don’t retell badly understood folk-tales:

“A scorpion was walking along the bank of a river, wondering how to get to the other side. Suddenly, he saw a fox. He asked the fox to take him on his back across the river.

The fox said, “No. If I do that, you’ll sting me, and I’ll drown.”

The scorpion assured him, “If I do that, we’ll both drown.”

The fox thought about it and finally agreed. So the scorpion climbed up on his back, and the fox began to swim. But halfway across the river, the scorpion stung him. As poison filled his veins, the fox turned to the scorpion and said, “Why did you do that? Now you’ll drown, too.”

“I couldn’t help it,” said the scorpion. “It’s my nature.” “

Now the story actually makes some degree of sense: The moral (supposedly) is that you can’t change your basic nature, even if your life depends on it.

Arachnid has this one perfectly! We cannot and will not change our basic nature, even if our life depends on it.

But, there IS one who will lead us to a change of heart, because his life depended on it.

Answer #3

Blessings…
