well he is the newest. it takes a VERY long time for them to get use to human blood. everyone else has been a vampire even longer so theyve had more expereice. its taken Carlisie 300 years to perfect his skill so yea its just because hes is teh “newest”

ok no. I am obsessed with twilight so I know. jasper was turned before edward and alice, emmett, rosalie, and esme. not carlisle. jasper however is the newest to the cullen’s diet… you know animal blood. he attacked bella because he used to only feed on humans and it is difficult for vampires to control their thirst for humans. get it? hope you do.

actually, my husband and I were discussing it a few days ago. he was already finished with all four books and I am barely on the third. I was kinda confused when he told me that jasper fought in the army (not sure if american civil war), but the books states that he is the “newest”. this is my theory: probably jasper was ahead of edward in becoming a vampire (remember Carlisle bit edward to his deathbed to save his life from Spanish influenza, the year was 1918). but edward was one of the first to join carlisle’s coven so he had already been abstaining from human blood longer than some of the other vampires in the group. since jasper is the last to join the coven (the “newest” member of the Cullen family), he still has no full control over his urge to hunt and drink human blood. probably this explains why he lost control at the sight of bella’s blood that he tried to attack her in new moon.
