Is this effecting my baby?

I was diagnosed with bronchitis over a year ago, I’ve been to several doctors & been on several medications since none of which helped at all.. Then I found out I was pregnant, and of course that limits the medications I can be on nevermind the fact that my family doctor WILL NOT see me due to the fact that im “too pregnant” now. I cant laugh, cry, walk even short distances or roll over in bed without becoming short of breath. Then I struggle to catch my breath for almost an hour. I’m 32 weeks and 2 days pregnant… im getting to the point where I just dont think I can keep this up any longer, I need some kind of relief, I want to know that my daughter isnt suffering because im sick. I know that if im not getting enough oxygen then she cant either but how would I know if theres something wrong with her?

does anyone have any advice as to what I could do to help?

[[& just so I dont get any rude comments, yes I talk to my OB about it, but he says theres not much he can do due to the fact that medications could hurt the baby. im scheduling another appointment with him for monday just so he knows whats going on… ]]

I think it’s possible the reason YOU aren’t feeling well is because your body is making sure your BABY is getting all of the oxygen she needs. Mommies are awesome that way- we’re intrinsically designed to divert nutrients, vitamins, and oxygen to our babies first. Ask your doctor about taking an expectorant- mucinex didn’t work for me, but the Walgreen’s brand and the Target brand both worked great. If you bring in a bottle, he can tell you whether or not you can take it.

Try a hot bath with the shower running- you’ll breathe in steam and that may help- also a warm mist humidifier can ease your discomfort. Drink lots of fluids- and spit out anything you cough up. It’s hard to cough, I know, when you’re pregnant, but if you sit around a humidifier, take an expectorant (if you’re able), and stay hydrated, you may have an easier time eliminating the phlegm. Vick’s vapor rub (on your chest and back) helps a lot too. You can also get a vick’s plug in for the rooms you’re in (bedroom, living room, bathroom)… those shower soother’s (mentholated disks that disolve and vaporize in your shower) are super great. Breathe deeply in through your mouth, and try to stay relatively active. Laughing loosens phlegm too- so watch a funny movie. :)

You’re almost there! You’re in the home stretch! I hope you feel better soon!! If your daughter wasn’t getting enough oxygen, your OB/GYN would be concerned, so try to stay positive, stay comfortable, and I hope you feel better soon!

If you’re really struggling I’d try to rest up as much as you can and see if you can get a second opinion when you see your OB. There has to be something they can do to help. If you’re in distress then ultimately that alone will affect the rest of your pregnancy which is no good for you or your baby. Best of luck and try to take it easy.
