Is texting ruining the minds of teens?

who else thinks that texting and cell phones are ruining teens, I realy am not against them …but you get my point.

Answer #1

Yes, all of the casual spelling and acronyms are making it more difficult to retain spelling skills. When you “grow up” and have to write anything professionally it shows. I have seen a distinct decrease in people’s ability to communicate in writing.

Answer #2

Internet chatspeak (thanks belindaleigh for that word) is ruining young teens spelling ability, but their typing skills are improved. So, … is that a wash?

Answer #3

I don’t. Things like video games are because they encourage crime. Theres nothing wrong with texting and cell phones. The only thing I see wrong with cell phones is when people use them while driving, but people do a lot of dumb things while driving. I text all the time, I have for years… hasn’t changed me one bit.

Answer #4

I text on my phone and I use ‘T9’ Which prepares words for you. I never use ‘chatspeak’ I don’t blame cellphones for ‘chatspeak’ because people use that more on the computer. Cell phone companies have tried to do things so people use proper grammar when texting and stuff and that is why T9 is in there to use. If people choose not to use that, its out of the cell phones company control.

Answer #5

no? what a dumb question

Answer #6

I dont use texting.. and I only talk on my phone to say goodnight to people or to reach my family.

Answer #7

I text, not often. It’s not really the mobile phone itself, but the chatspeak they use. ;/
