Is soy cheese "so-y" crappy?

I’ve heard mixed reviews on soy cheese, but I think it could be a nutritious substitute to real cheese in certain recipes. Has anyone tried soy cheese? What is a good brand? What kinds of recipes should soy cheese be used in?

It really grosses me out. Sorry to all the vegans out there, but I LOVE cheese and that stuff tasted like plastic!

An old roomie of mine is vegan, and he uses it on some Mexican-type dishes. Fake meat tacos, in some chili, stuff like that. He never used it as a main part of the dish.
