Is my mom going to hate me?

Okay, this is a big question and it’s pretty long so if it’s not worth your time I understand. My mom’s a vegetarian and thinks I am too but when I’m at my dad’s, (my parents are divorced and dad’s remarried) he lets me eat meat. So I lie about what I ate and stuff. It’s been this way for about 8 years now and I’m scared that if I tell my mom, she’ll hate me because she totally loves animals and I do too but there are lots of meat eating animal lovers out there right? PLEASE HELP!!!

Sure there are millions of meat-eating animal lovers out there - don’t worry - the overriding factor here is: your Mom Loves you and Cares - you’ll be fine !!

Answer #2

Simply a Rose to brighten your day,         And maybe lessen the cares in your way;         And also, too, to help you to know,         That in knowing you, many others grow!

I think it is time for you and your mother to sit down and talk. And it isn’t about your dad undermining her or anything like that.

It is about the fact that you have not, yet, developed your mother’s mind set in relation to eating animals. You may love them just as much as she does but you still perceive of many of them as a food source.

It is theorized that mankind evolved into humans after and because he learned to eat meat. It allowed his brain to evolve into the complex organ that it is and the most efficient one in nature.

Tell your mom that in her house you will try and abide by her wishes about being a vegetarian but that when you are out and about and at others homes, you may consume meat. And, that you don’t want to have to be “lying” to her about it.

Answer #3

Meat is awesome!!! I love animals too! some animals were just meant to be eaten. They always have. Explain to your mother your love for animals and the love your tummy has for meat. If she gets mad, it’s just one of those things she’ll have to get over. You are your own person and so is she. Everyone has the right to love what they want.

Answer #4

I’ve been a vegetarian for 28 years but to tell the truth I never tried to make my daughter one. I think a vegetarian diet is better for you, better for animals, and better for the environment so I’d certainly be supportive of her being one but I think it should be an individual decision. So far her 3 favorite foods are BBQ ribs, roast beef, and grilled chicken so I seem to be loosing this battle so far but perhaps she will come around later ;)

If you want to eat meat when you are at your dad’s than go ahead, don’t feel guilty and I don’t think you should lie to your mom about it.
