is it true if you want a job as a midewife in baby care unit. do you have to like finger the people or sumute ??? because thats what I got told xx
you have to insert the finger into the vagina for two reasons (maybe?)
- to check dilation (as ich said) and
- maybe to break the waters…
the risk of infection is very high, and gloves are required the whole way through for protection of mother, baby and midwife.
As a midwife, your job is to deliver babies. To check the dilation progress of a woman in labour, you need to insert your fingers into the vagina to measure the cervix - it’s not exactly “fingering”, but yes, you have to do it.
I was told this also. I don’t think its true… but I’m not sure
