Is it better to get a male or female dog?

what are the advantages and disadvantages of getting either. which do you have, if you have a dog?

Answer #1

A female dog will not have her periods anymore if she is spayed (Spaying is the female equivalent of neutering for male dogs).

Answer #2

I have a boy dog but only cause it was love at first sight. a girl dog will b harder cause they have periods and you will have to give them dipers .make sure you get the dog nutered.a guy dog if no0t nutered (u better nutter yours) will keep humping dogs(boy or girl).so just pick a dog from your heart like I did . and from a shelter

Answer #5

I have two female dogs and I have one male dog I love them all the same except boy dogs are more territorial and agressive and tend to hump everything so I would probably go with female for you

Answer #6

I have 3 dogs and they are all female, I have had many male dogs but I couldn’t handle them, males are much more wild, and mature later than females, because they have a longer puppy stage, and also females can be used for breeding, you can pay however much money for a female dog, be when it has pups you get back more than what you paid, and males pee all over everything

Answer #7

LOL…Harley…Moj lifts his leg to pee, however, he feels obligated to pee on only 50% of all bushes, high grass, and tires… :)

Female dogs are more intune with their “leader”, (that’s what I call it)…while males are slightly more independent. There’s all levels of this, of course…I had a lovely male GSD who was hyper in tune. Males are also more territorial yard wise, while a female seems to be more territorial of their people. I’m talking German Shepherds, tho…

I can tell you this, tho…no matter which you get, the “male” or “female” part won’t make much difference…there’s not THAT much difference in the sexes…there is a lot of difference in the breeds…

Males are usually the ones who constantly want more attention from you, and can be very boisterous and goofy. Females are usually more calm, and can sit away from everyone when she wants to. For example, the males would want to join the family for TV time, but females can entertain themselves and sometimes would rather have her alone time.

You have to take into account though that every breed and every individual dog is different. So you may get a very silly female dog who loves having attention showered on her.

Answer #9

dont worry, I am=D

Answer #10

All of the above, and don’t forget to get them spayed or neutered. People forget that a female will go into heat and bleed from her vulva. A male will start lifting his leg to pee and want to mark everything. But if you get them fixed early (6 months) this does not happen. And males are not as crazy. I prefer either. You just have to put them on a schudel and keep teaching them, after all this you will have a great dog.
