Is DUI felony just as bad?

I live in Michigan and in this state having three alcohol or drug crimes is considered a felony. I have been in trouble 3 times in my entire life- (1) in 1996 for UBAL/Under 21 for being a passenger in a car with a BAC level. (2) in 2001 for OUIL with a BAC of .11 when Michigan law was .10, and (3) in 2006 for OUIL and Possession of Marijuana with a BAC of .14. I know that I have made mistakes and the irony is I have two Criminal Justice degrees. I know that I have had to make up for those and I have gone to treatment and have been completly clean for well over a year now, but our state law still considers me a felon. I need to work and get back on with my life and am running out of hope with bad economy and a even worst state. Does anyone have any advice for me? I have a positive outlook, but am having a slow time right now. Thanks

Hi there,

To find companies hiring felons in your area, go to http://www.governmentjobs.com and find your local employment office.

They should be able to put you on the right track to finding a job. I’ve also heard that United Way and the Salvation Army will employ those with felony records.

Also, there are plenty of this same question on the site: just search for “felon” in the bar and you’ll find other answers!

Yeah, its tough to find a job with a felony. Thats why there are new companies out there really trying to help people get into the trucking industry the right way. I went through a Pre-Screen process with my school and they told me what companies would or would not hire before the state paid for my training. They do it for free all over the nation too: Onlintruckingschool.com. Click the pre-screen and they tell you.
