Is Bush the worst President Ever?

Is Bush the worst President Ever?

Answer #1

It sounds like phrannie has been around a while. I was born when Eisenhower was President. There certainly have been worse in history and even my lifetime. There were many of us perhaps on this site who well remember the Cole bombing, the first Trade Tower bombings and Khobar Tower bombings. After those we blew up a few tents and after each, the attacks became stronger. When 11 September occurred, we were attacked as a Nation by a foreign enemy. It was recognized as such and Bush retaliated against those who harbored the terrorists. We’ll never know, but I don’t think Kerry would have acted as effectively immediately after the attack. We’ve not had another attack since. Iraq? There was misinformation provided by the CIA and a lot of folks believed it, Democrat and Republican. Remember “I voted for the war before I voted against it.” Mishandled war? Yea. No not the worst, but he will not be treated in history as a George Washington or Abraham Lincoln.

ty, ty,

I would think you would read comments rather than skim them. Go back and read the statement regarding Washington and Lincoln. The word is facetious.

fa·ce·tious (fə-sē‘shəs) pronunciation adj.

Playfully jocular; humorous: facetious remarks.

[French facétieux, from facétie, jest, from Latin facētia, from facētus, witty.]

And please don’t forget that the attack that occured on 11 September 2001 were planned under the Clinton administration. And had he done anything truly effective about the first Trade Tower bombing and the Cole, or captured OBL when intelligence knew exactly where he was in 1999, rockets and manpower were ready to go and he stood them down, we might not be discussing 11 September.

And as to war, he was fed the same false information by the Clinton appointed CIA Director that everyone else believed as well. Hillary was for it, Keary was for it, remember the “I voted for the war before I voted against it”. My we have such selective and short memories.

like George Washington and Lincon… ahahahahahahahahahaah! that has got to be the funniest thing I have ever heard. You call starting a war with a country that had nothing to do with any terrorist attacks and had no weapons of mass destruction “mishandling”? I guess the planes just “bumped” into the towers thn… Everyone keeps going on about how there have been no terrorist attacks since then. Why do people keep forgetting to point out that he was president when they happened? They happened under his watch! If it had happened under Clinton’s the conservatives would have never let that go! And you’re rigt, Kerry probably wouldnt have had a war with a country that had nothing to do with the attacks, he probably wouldnt have led the country into billions of dollars of debt…

Answer #4

The problem is two things, really: one, the previous president was attempted to be impeached over an affair, when several times in history (JFK, most famous example) the opposing party never tried such a thing…and then, the excuse when our current president, publicly & knowingly, broke the federal law regarding email storage…well, it’s hard to compare, because the public didn’t have the kind of access to information even 10 years ago that we do now :)

On the other hand, Gallup, an the largest independent polling organization in the US that’s been measuring presidential “likeness” for nearly 70 years…shows Bush is the least liked president during that time.

So…compared to the president during the depression, WWII, Vietnam, North Korea war, etc, etc…it’s interesting, from a “historical” perspective that he’s such a villain already.

Still, the massive tax breaks for the wealthy, or the reclassification of tons of workers from hourly to salaried wages (which lowered their incomes) are probably bigger issues for most Americans than the war, as those things hurt the average worker more than the current wall street crisis has - which seemingly, was the worst in history to date.

Lots to think about, really. :)

I think before anyone can say that bush is a bad president we really need to think about how our govenment works! have you ever herd of checks and balences?! really the only reason bush is able to do these thing we say makes him a bad president is through our government

Answer #6

Yes it is all very subjective, but there is not doubt that if he isn’t the worst ever, he certainly in the top 5 worst (or is that bottom 5?).

Answer #7

I’m sure if asked, people of the past, who lived with other not so great Presidents would say NO, “so and so” was the worst…somehow “living” with a bad one, seems much worse than reading about a bad President in a history book.

Answer #8

I’m sure that there must have been somebody worse. Seriously, I did not like George W., but he did have a very bad time to be president. He was in over his head and in my opinion had a bad group of advisors. It was cowboy politics at it’s worst. in my opinion. My Mother used to say he was dumb as a post. I tend to agree.

YES!

JFK, most famous example) the opposing party never tried such a thing…

In 1960, people didn’t even TALK about sex…Eisenhower had a mistress, so did FDR…the whole subject was taboo…and kept VERY secret by those who surrounded the President…because “we the people” would have been completely scandalized.

On the other hand, Gallup, an the largest independent polling organization in the US that’s been measuring presidential “likeness” for nearly 70 years…shows Bush is the least liked president during that time

And how many people are still living that HAVE a memory from 70 years ago? Did they go nursing home to nursing home? Would I be a good judge of Truman? Eisenhower? Even Kennedy…he was killed when I was 13. That “Poll” might be a tad skewed…

Answer #12

In my opinion, no. Then again, nobody has experienced life under every US president, so there’s really no way to answer this question.

The most qualified people, presidential historians, have differing views. Some believe Bush has been the worst, others point to past administrations who were involved in things the average American might have forgotten or not been aware of. So of course, it’s subjective.

Answer #13

Maybe, but we have to wait to see if McCain is elected. That would broaden the running field.

Answer #14

They may have been planned under the Clinton admin, but no one did anything under the Bush administration… and I dont blame Bush… unlike the republicans who jump up with the most ridiculous things, I actually realize that this wasnt actually Bush’s fault… my point was, if it had happened under the Clinton administration, the republicans would be chanting about it till today…
