What's it like in Ireland?

Its great here. But it depends what your looking for.

The music is the best, the fun or as we say the craic is mighty. In general the people here are very friendly and welcoming although, as with any other place you can find nasty people too.

So here are some randon things about the part of ireland I live in.

when we meet another car on the road or drive past someone, we always wave, whether we know them or not.

Me and my friends play traditional music in a 450year old pub.

Nobody says ‘hello’. we say ‘well’ or ‘whats the craic?’

We do drink quite a bit but we are not all alcoholics. We only drink because we like to meet in the local pub to have a chat and play some tunes.

Apparently we have a folk song about EVERYTHING.

Our national sport is hurling. Its played with two teams of 15 players and they all have the irish version of baseball bats. It is oficially the fastest game on a field. Its very like hokey only the ball is hit high in the air as well as on the ground.

Tap dancing is believed to have originated from an ancient form of irish dancing called sean nós dancing.

We have our own language but sadly it is only spoken in small areas and most people only speak english, which was forced on us during the english occupation.

The oldest written language in the world is ogham and was used throughout ireland and scotland.

There is a structure in ireland called newgrange which was constructed over 5,000 years ago (about 3,200 B.C.), making it older than Stonehenge in England and the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt.
